I originally had 8, I'm down to 5, the cockerels are definately the majority it appears but I'd love to have thoughts now that they are a little older, I'm hoping I have at least 1 pullet.

#1 is supposed to be a Black Austrolorp

#2 is supposed to be a Barred Rock but there was prior speculation that it may be mixed with Cuckoo Maran

#3 is supposed to be a Barred Rock, but again may be a mix

#4 again a Barred Rock possibly mixed

#5 is supposed to be Barred Rock

I know the pictures aren't that great, but they move so fast that most of my pics are blurry. Thanks in advance for thougths.

The only one I feel confident calling pullet is #2. I think #5 is a cockerel no doubt. I think #1 is highly suspect because of the comb at this age and the lack of feathering--but I would give him a few more weeks. I would definetly give #3 and #4 a few more weeks before culling--they seem a little lighter in color than #2 but not as obvious as #5, and the comb/wattles are more developed on #4, but the legs aren't screaming roo to me.

Granted, the color-sexing of the barred birds is far more questionable if they are mixes.

1, 4 and 5 are cockerals. 2 is iffy to me and 3 is probably a pullet. I'd like to see pics again in 3-4 weeks if you keep them that long.

I think that they are all mixes and therefore there is noway in telling their gender by colour. I think that 2 is a pullet.. (definitly a mix by my guess because there is not a single comb. and 2 which MIGHT be a mix. All the other ones look like roos but give them a few more weeks

Thanks everybody, you all are all on the same thought pattern that I'm on, good to have confirmation. I'll post again in a few weeks and see if we can't nail them down.
