7 day old chick dying!!! help

I have given it electrolytes and it keeps jumping out of its sick bay box, into the general population- so I am leaving it there. I dont think its contagious, I think something is stuck in its throat......it is resting, but still doing the gaping motions almost continuously

I am sorry about your chick. It is definitely gasping and having a respiratory problem. It might have gotten a piece of feed or bedding stuck in the airway. I haven’t seen one do what he is doing in the first video, but it seems like he is trying to clear his airway. You might be able to look into the throat with a light for anything while another person holds the chick. Try getting it to drink water and you can dip the beak into water. I would not try to hold it upside down any more, and I would leave it with the other chicks. I hope he makes it—my mille fleur d’uccle pair were very sweet chickens. I lost my 9 year last year.

Thank you for your response. Sometimes its just really helpful to hear someone else agree with your ideas, you know? I am thinking it must be a small piece of hay. Yesterday I cleaned the brooder (cardboard box) and put down fresh hay. I bet its a piece of that. I looked down his throat as far as I could see..but he is marginally better so maybe it is making its way down. thanks again

Oh, this poor little baby. I’m very concerned at how weak it looks. I personally might attempt tubing fluids, but only if very confident you can do it without introducing fluid to the lungs. To give this little one a boost, I might put a single drop of straight poultry vitamins on the side or tip of its beak so it swallows on its own.
