7 in two nest boxes

My 7 chickens all bunch up in the two nest boxes just before they go to bed. Is this normal?

Do they have roosts to sleep on? Does your nest box have a dropping board that can tip up in front of it to keep them out? Mine all sleep on the roosts at night. There are 25 and they jockey for the best position and squabble a bit but I can't imagine them trying to fit in a few boxes like that. Seems some might get hurt?
