7 of my 10 chickens died in an attack while free-ranging today

So devastated. I only lost 2 over the last 12 months and to lose 7 at once was so awful. Only found 1 body and wasn't eaten. Saw feathers from two other birds.

One surviving chicken I'm pretty sure survived because she is broody right now and hasn't been off the nest! The other two stumbled back looking shell shocked in the evening.

No sign of the others and I won't hold out hope about them turning up...

Sounds like some stray dogs. I am so sorry I lost some on my birthday the same way, my heart breaks for you. Keep them penned up for a week, just in case the predator comes back.

I guanentee you whatever it was, WILL be back.
Secure the 3 you have left.
Get some trail cameras, to find out what it is then you can plan how to get rid of it.
If it ends up being your neighbors dog, you could be compensated.
I have been in your shoes, it is sad, but you have to get MAD!
