7 week old Barred Rock...roo?

Eight weeks. Pretty straightforward, isn't it?

Thank you to everyone for your input and time you took to look and respond..and nice photos Newraiser and Fred's Hens...always nice to have photos to compare the 2 genders.

Votes so far have landed about 4 votes roo to 2 votes pullet.

This one has been a little harder for me as the comb is just a little slower to develop than the others I've had. (It doesn't show well in the photos, but there is still significant yellow in it). I have only this one Barred maturing at this time so I've got nothing to compare to for growth except my memory (which is never a good thing

@Wyandottes 7..Yup...I think so too...just look at the "cockish" carriage and I think the pattern falls into the lighter grouping. And while this doesn't always mean anything, as pullets can get snotty with each other, there's a lot of chest butting and neck fluffing with his hatch mate (a little Banty which I think is a roo too)....he even tried to take on the neighboring broody hen...who promptly put him in his place (ha ha).

Time will tell. It will turn out to be either a hen...or a roo...100% certain on that.

I fall into the "wait until it lays or crow" crowd as I know how easily it is to be fooled by a late developing cock or more often an early developing female... However, if I had to place my bets, I would bet this is a roo. 7 weeks old as of tomorrow. What do you all think? Thanks, Lady of McCamley (who can't keep roo's)
...... Soooo it has been a Lil while since your original post have you discover the definite gender yet

Rooster for sure. He has light coloring, which is indicative of a male barred rock, and a very roosterish stance.
I see that you mention a light feathers for a roo but I have seen a hen who are also that light and it’s a laying hen ? Could be that a hen can be lighter as well ????
