I have seven chicks that are now 7 weeks old. Think Iv'e been lucky and only got 2 boys. Would just like to make sure I have got them right.

The girls first:

And now the boys:

Any thoughts would be great.

I would agree with your guesses, but watch the very last bird closely as it may just be an early maturing hen. It's coloration is too dark for a normal barred roo.

Thanks for the thoughts, they are just farm mixed breeds so nothing pure in there. The rooster has one barring gene and a couple of the hens are barred. Got quite an even spread.

Ah, that explains it! Yes he's definitely a roo then.

The only change I'd make is keep an eye on that 4th chick, it could be a roo. Other than that, good percentage!

I have a bsl roo over a variety of hens and have gotten some cool patterns, it will be cool to see what your babies turn out to look like.

thanks again. I love all the varieties we get. All of the predictions are the same that I made when these chicks were just a few days old with wing sexing, though the 4th chick was a bit of an odd ball and I wasn't too sure. Will just have to wait and see.
