I got this bird as an extra "rare breed" bird with my order from Murray McMurray hatchery. It is 7 weeks old. Any ideas as to what breed and possible sex? Thanks

I'm going to go with a muffless Easter Egger cockerel judging on leg color and comb type. I'm pretty sure thats a pea comb. if it were a Sicillian Buttercup I think it would have a more noticeable buttercup comb and wouldn't have that much black/green on him.

My first thought was also EE cockerel.

I doubt it. Murray McMurray doesn't offer EE (or ameracauna) as a rare breed.

The rare breed assortment states it includes 35 different breeds and they only list 21 different breeds under the "rare" heading so it could include EEs. They have to be including other breeds but unfortunately they aren't listed. They offer "Ameraucanes" but from the description and the pictures displayed they are actually selling EEs under the wrong name.

The comb looks like a pea comb (defiantly not a buttercup) and I don't see it matching any of the breeds listed as rare.

Sure they do, they just call them "Araucanas" in their rarest of rare assortment list and Araucanas/Ameraucanas elsewhere. It's only when you read the description that you see a rather muddy explanation of what they are selling, exactly.

The list doesn't have much for pea combed breeds and since this is not a cornish, I'm going with muffless EE.
