is it safe to mixs 7 week old chicks with older chickens?

I would NOT. They should be at least 3/4 adult size to be safe. I usually wait until 12 weeks. Maybe I am just too protective. This last time for the last 3 weeks we had a divider in the run so they could see each other. We created a separate pen. They talked to each other from both sides of the fence for 3 weeks. This transition was way smoother than usual. There is still a little bit of chasing, etc. after a week, but nothing bad at all.
