7 week old EAster Egger and Buff Orpington gender?

Hi! Any guesses on these two? They are 7 weeks old. For me it changes in the day... these days I’m thinking more pullet.

I think both pullets but the easter egger looks like a cockerel

EE is a cockerel. Comb is too big and pink to be a pullet, not to mention those patches of red in his wings that are common in EE cockerels.
The Orp's comb is a little bit big for its age, but it doesn't have much color to it and there's no wattle growth that I can see so I'm going to say pullet on that one for now.

Sorry, that's 100% male. EE females are pretty plain colored compared to the males. No splotchy red patches. Usually uniform in their pattern. If you google ee hens you'll see what I mean. Plus your guy has a bright colored comb. Females don't color that much until they are about to lay, more like 20 weeks old.

I see what you mean. He is very splotchy. And honestly the personality is a bit more rooster-ish than I would like. Any thoughts on the BO? That’s the same bird in all pictures. I have one that I’m pretty sure is female since there is literally no comb and she’s very docile. The one in the picture has a bit of a comb, not super pink. But I’m still wondering if it’s a he or she. Hoping for 2 pullets..

Leaning pullet but not positive. Give it a few more weeks to see if it shows itself.

A bigger comb doesn't necessarily mean rooster. My Barred Rock has a massive comb but is a hen and same with one of my Orpingtons. And yes it was pretty big even as chicks. As big or bigger than that. And if it was a roo, it would have a way redder comb by now. That BO is for sure a pullet.

Here are mine. Now almost 3 years old (as of October) and 100% for sure hens. Comb size does not always indicate roo. It can but other factors have to be considered as well.



The EE I would consider a roo. Here is a good example of the even color pattern on the hens. Plus his comb is very red and EEs are pea combed so they will not develop a huge comb like single combed breeds so the small comb is not an indicator.

EE cockerel, no doubt, and leaning towards BO pullet.
