7 week old Silkie

Such fantastic fluff!

This is my first time having Silkies and chickens in general! Besides my Bantam hen I got a week before my chicks named Africa

I know bell is a hen due to her sound looks and activity Elvis on the other hand (the black one) has a boy scream when you pick him up and he is always on guard and he has wattles

Yeah if they've got noticeable wattles and they're bearded they're probably male.

I just wanna know (I’m new to chicks) why my 7 weeks old silkies look like adults but are still just 7 weeks old!

Agreed. I have standard chicks that are 10 weeks old and are less than half the size of what those look like... They definitely don't look 7 weeks. If I were to guess, I would say 7 months!
Never seen chicks - especially bantams - mature that fast in my life!
They are adorably little fluff balls though!!

I wouldn't really say you could tell the gender just from the sounds... but maybe you just have a talent!

Is she a silver penciled bantam?

I wouldn't really say you could tell the gender just from the sounds... but maybe you just have a talent!

They definitely do look a bit big for just 7 weeks. That being said they do still look fairly young and some lines mature faster than others.

The really fluffy ones sometimes do look older than they are too. Here is a little pullet of mine at 10 weeks. She definitely looked older than her brother due to the extra fluff.
