I have three 7 week old chicks. When we put them in coop they were locked in there for 3 days. Now when I go to close up the coop all three are huddled half in half out of the coop door. Every night we have to shoo them in to close the door. When I peek on them they are then huddled inside right by inside of door and spend the night there. They use their roost durning the day, but don't seem interested at night. Why won't they go all the way in the coop at night?

A night light may help.My hens are four years old.and if in the evening.if their coop is dark I have to turn on the light before they venture in.if you have no electric in the coop.a solar light works.

I have a update. We hung a string of solar lights in the coop and every night when I got to lock them up they are all inside already. They still aren't usung the roost at night and instead sleep huddled in a corner, but at least no more fighting to get them in at night. Thanks for your help.
