I have a 7momth old easter egger rooster who was limping a few weeks ago. We treated him by rubbing oil on his legs for scaly leg mites which we didn't see but thought it could be the problem and he was isolated to limit movement. He seemed to improve dramatically after a few days. We let him out with our most docile flock for a few days where he seemed to still have a little limp almost imperceptible. Then one day, he was down with pretty much no control on one leg. Each time we've checked the leg for breaks but I can't feel anything abnormal. I read about a possible b2 (riboflavin) deficiency and started giving him an egg daily with polyvisol (no iron) daily for about a week. Today, it seems like he has now lost function in the other leg but the original lame limb seems better? Any ideas? I brought him inside for isolation once he went down this last time to try to control the environment better.
Also, we put 4 drops of the rub on ivomec on his skin after the 2nd time he went down. We thought if it was scaly leg mites, it would knock them out quickly.
