Hey all so I have what I believe to be a roughly 8 week old chick . She ( I hope she ) is laying down a lot . There is nothing wrong to that I can see physically . I picked her up nothing felt off . Could it be she is just low on the totem pole ? She is one out of 12. All the others are great , when I go to check her out she runs and walks around fine but she does stay to herself alot though her little friend tries to hang with her lol . Am I just over thinking ?

What does her poop look like?
Can you watch her interactions for a while to see if she is getting to eat/drink? If she's low in pecking order she may be kept from food.

You are not necessarily overthinking - it could be nothing, but you've noticed something off, so it would be good to investigate further.
You may want to give her another look just to make sure there's no lice/mites, check see that her crop is empty in the mornings, look at her poop, etc.

Ok after checking everything!!! I think they are just starting pecking order and shes the outcast, although one of my others tends to hang with her alot . I added extra feeders , and seems to be helping . I think she might have been getting pecked a little too much.

Well, I would still watch her carefully. Even the lowest in pecking order is going to be fairly active and not laying down a lot. At 8-9wks, they may hang back, but still participate.
Is she a breed like a Silkie that has a crest? Pecked on the head maybe?

I have a Polish who is low woman on the totem pole and I've noticed she tends to lay down a lot too compared to the other hens (but is otherwise healthy and active as far as I can tell).
