8 Chicklets in a box... gender question about 1 of them

Just an update on this. (a sort of progression followup)

So... the girls are now 3 weeks old. I have taken photos of all three since comparing with other birds appears to be the most helpful.

I am still scared about #1 being a boy. In addition to it's baby comb and wattle appearing more developed and red than the other two, it's legs are very stocky compared to the other two as well. However, it's got the most feathers so far too, so it may very well just be an early bloomer.

#3 is about a third smaller than the other two and seems to be developing slightly slower. Late bloomer so to speak.

Again, this is my first time with baby chickens... so, I appreciate the knowledge and patience. I am just trying to take it all in. They are so fascinating to watch develop. It's almost like you can watch them grow. Every time I go in to check on them and make sure they're good on water and food, they look bigger. So funny.

I'll post another round of photos, including more of the saddle feather area when those start coming in... in a couple of weeks.

3 weeks old with red combs already...I'm thinking you may have gotten some boys there.

At least #1 if not all three. I don't really know much about that breed though so I hope I'm wrong.

Oh that'll suck... These are/were my only three brown egg layers.

On the plus... I really wanted an Australorp or two... I am sure I could convince hubby that an addition to the flock is necessary. Maybe a Buff Orpington as well. (plotting)

Your paintings are lovely! I am thinking you should start selling them and I for one would be in line!

Alright... 5 weeks old today. So funny, I took photos of all my adolescent chickens today... all of the wyandottes insisted on this "turned head" pose.

Number 1: Still waffling on this one... no pointy feathers yet... Then again, I have no idea when that happens.
