8 month old molting?

For some reason, I though chickens skip the molt before they are about a year old. It looks like one of my 8 month old hens is molting. Is that typical?

It's very interesting info. I have a BO that is molting. She started about two months ago and is still going strong.

No eggs from her.

Thank you so much! Mine is a BO as well. She quit laying about a month ago, but I couldn't tell she was molting until this morning.

I had the same exact problem. I had two BO's that quit laying and I couldn't tell they were molting. One has since died and the remaining one just started noticeably sprouting new feathers two weeks ago. I breathed a huge sigh of relief however, if she doesn't get with it by spring, DH says she needs to find a new home. Good luck! Glad I could help.
