3 of the chicks hatched yesterday (Day 20), 5 have hatched today, and there is one egg left that has a pip and a bit of shell missing so I can see the white membrane underneath, but it isn't making any progress [IMG] The chick is still alive; I can hear it peep faintly *very* occasionally. The egg isn't wiggling and the pip looks the same as it did this morning. I'm trying very hard to be patient, but I'm really worried about it!

try helping as little as possible so you dont kill the chick if it is alive
mabey take a little of the shell (NOT THE MEMBRANE) off but if you see any blood stop

I went into the bathroom with mine and ran a steamy shower while gently prying away tiny pieces of the shell. Then I worked very gently peeling back the membrane and the chick was able to free himself from most of it. He had been struggling for 24 hours with no progress after the pip. It's a judgment call, but if it's a choice between letting the chick die and helping him out I say go for it.
