Your black Ameraucana is defiantly a cockerel, hence the developing saddle feathers. Very handsome! Splash on the other hand is a pullet.

Thanks! that's what I thought I was finally seeing. He's very pretty. His feathers are very shimmery--almost green. Unfortunately he'll have to find a new home :-(. I'm glad one is a pullet!

The black is for sure a cockerel. I'm seeing some suspicious new feathers on the splash that has me thinking it may be a slower maturing cockerel as well

What did these end up being? They both looked like cockerels to me.
