well guys, thank for sharing in my delight, having a "mother" hen regardless of gender makes life so much easier, no worrying about heat lamps working or whether they chick gets food or water! Its also very cute and endearing to see a hen be a hen and not just an egg laying machine. My RIR's and D'uccle dont seem to know what being a momma is, so i just assumed that the new chick would have to develop survival and evasive skills all by herself, but she has found 2 best buds and they do everything together, its wonderful!
