I keep going back and forth on this one. I have a 8 wk old blue Marans that is definitely a cockerel - he has a bigger comb than the one pictured, copper starting to show on his wings and he is starting to crow. This Black definitely has a developed comb (not as much as the other) and is a bit of a jerk, but no copper on the wings and holds itself more like a hen, in my opinion.

I’m glad I stumbled upon this post. Do blue copper marans develop quicker than black?

I have two 8 week old bcm that I’m debating about as well but my blue copper marans boys were so obvious at probably 3 weeks old! Now I still can’t tell at 8 weeks.

Here are mine here. I do feel like they look like girls here, but up close there’s a bit of pink in the combs, especially one of them. And there backs aren’t fully feathered like my other breeds the same age.

Well mine did turn out to be a roo and I'm guessing the one in the front might be one too, but the comb isn't as developed as mine were. Unfortunately, I don't have any girls to compare 😕 but I will say, at least in this case my blue did mature quicker than the black.

They’re pullets!
