8 week old chicks not interested in scratch

Our 8 week old chicks don't seem interested in scratch. Can someone tell me if they are just too young for it. I am trying to use scratch to "train" or encourage them in or out of the run when I want but they aren't into it. I have heard from my friends that their chickens go absolutely crazy for scratch. But their chickens are a year old. What's the deal? Thanks.

I use millet or mealworms for training, mine always ignore scratch too.

a lot of chickens LOVE scratch. if they have constant food available that might make them less interested in it though. mealworms tend to be a favorite too

I chop up fruits and veggies and use those. My chicks are about six weeks and they come a running whenever they see me!
