8 week old just beginning to get weak

My chick scoots around and I found her perching on some contracting equipment(3 inches up....long story..deck being built from 2nd story deck to coop). She eats and drinks well. Just cannot stand. I will still try to deworm, organically. She seems the same. Thanks for the tips!!!!!

I had a chick too that would just sit around and not eat or drink and would also just fall to the side when she tried to stand. It was a leg issue and I kept her separated from the others for a week with her own food and water with probiotics and electrolytes. I put her back in with the others once she could stand on her own without flopping over or limping around. Can't tell her apart from the others now...

Hey...that is my Barred Rock! I have had her separated...own food and probiotic/electrolyte water. Noticed the condition when we started to move chicks from brooder to new coop. That gives me hope, thank you! I like your name, we are too!...

Thanks

I noticed her too because she would not get up to greet me like the others and the only time she would move was when she felt threatened and then only flop around a bit to get out of the way. I thought it was something really bad at first too, she would stretch her wings out as well to keep her balance which made her look even more hurt than she was. She would also perch real well which made me think it wasn't her leg because I couldn't find anything broken and her grip strength with both claws was great, but it was her leg after all. Let us know how it goes!

I am so sorry I have not kept up with the thread. The 8 week old is now 15 weeks old. It was her leg. I kept her separated and spent time keeping her integrated with flock. She is much smaller than others, and is pecked so much by others. I have a flock of 30, and they all get into the act. If it were 5 or 6 she would do better. I have a separate cage for her, and place her in that 2 or 3 times a day, just so she can eat and drink, otherwise she stays on top of crate or the roosts. I am not certain she will ever be able to function on her own. Thanks guys!
