8 week old RIR - acting strange

She has had the exact same feed that the other 34 chicks had when they hatched and all the others are fine. So i dont think that it is a problem with vitamins.
She has no lice or mites or any of her cage mates. They have been wormed too. So all that is clear

Well, here's the thing, some chicks aren't as good at absorbing nutrients as the others. It's not that you aren't doing all the right things it's that she needs a little extra supplementation to make up for her lack of absorption.

The reason I think she has some little mite thing going on is that I noticed her picking at herself twice in the video. To tell you the truth, I don't usually 'see' the little buggers on my hens but I know they're there because of the picking. I've had a problem with (I think) ear mites and depluming mites in addition to all the rest so I have to keep hitting it from all angles.

BTW, did you use a good broad spectrum wormer and then repeat after a week or two? Same thing goes for the external parasite treatments.

Yes they have had the Verm-X and like i said all the other chicks that were hatched at the same time, and the ones she is living with are all fine

The blind chicken I told you about earlier has glazed eyes. I could not tell you if they seem set back or not.

To be honest, I could not tell you if mine was blind from birth or if it came on at a certain point. We just always noticed that she was not sociable like the rest. We had 10 white broilers that grew up with the rest of the flock. She was our only other white one and for some reason, the other breeds picked on the broiler birds. (Probably should have separated them, but I am a first year learner.) I assumed she stayed away because the other white ones were always being picked on.

My 13 yr old daughter was the one who noticed she was blind after she had been missing for 3 days and was found in the cornfield.

We never tried anything as far as medication because she was the only one in the flock who acted this way and is the only problem bird we have had. Snowball gets special attention and lots of extra love now. If she hears our voice, she is fine, but she gets squirly if we forget to let her know we are in the coop and she hears us. She lays eggs. (Sometimes in the bottom nesting box and sometimes in the middle of the coop floor) She sees shadows... I guess I would qualify her as legally blind.

I was going to get rid of her but didn't have the heart. She is so sweet. We thinned out the rooster population and she has been much happier than she was before. She was an easy target for the boys.

Biggest problem we have is that my chickens free range on 3 acres and she gets to wondering and is confused. There is an "Operation Find Snowball" a couple times a month!

Mostly she stays in and close to the coop.
