we have older chickens and three eight week old chickens. one of the little ones escaped into the older chicken coop and they pecked his head wide open. we isolated him from the others pulled the skin as together as we could and applied liquid bandage to it. what else do we need to do or how long does it take for this to heal up. he is eating and drinking well and acts as if nothing is bothering him just not sure if there is something else we need to do! any information would be greatly appreciated!

Chickens usually heal remarkably well. I would probably put some Neosporin or other antibiotic or antiseptic on the wound. Don't use an ointment or cream that has a "caine" drug such as cetacaine, benzocaine, etc. Some people use BluKote or a generic (mostly gentian violet) which is both an antiseptic and tends to prevent others from pecking a wound. That way you might be able to put her back with the young chicks sooner.
