Just wanted to swing by and provide an update, in case anybody finds this thread and wonders how these chickens turned out. I was right on all guesses, and the Partridge Orp was definitely a boy
I found him a nice loving home close enough for us to go visit, and he remained sweet and friendly even after maturing, but sadly he died a sudden and unexplained death. I hatched 5 more Partridge Orp chicks from the same breeder this past spring, and documented their development and feather patterns, and found that the feather patterning was not a reliable way to sex them when young. There was too much variation. Maybe the breed in this line isn't pure enough to be reliable. I ended up with 3 girls and 2 boys.
