8 week roo crowing

Smokin Joe is my second roo, my first was killed by a dog at around 14 weeks and had never crowed. This roo was crowing up a storm yesterday and he wasn't 8weeks old until today. I'm not sure if that was the first time he crowed or not. 8 weeks seems young to me.

My first roo crowed at 8 weeks. Most of my subsequent roosters crowed around 10-12 weeks, but one little fella who was in a huge brooder full os 25 chicks or more crowed at 3 weeks. He was the boss of THAT brooder!

It's really not that young. I've had them crow as young as 4 days old (yep, DAYS) and several before they were a week old. Most of the Delawares I've had started by 9 weeks old.

I have a 17 week old light sussex that crowed for the 1st time sunday just gone and has not crowed since. I thought 17 weeks was rather late to start crowing.
