Hatching
I see other people have posted asking if a chicken is a boy or girl.
We have a Welsummer who I think could be a rooster, but maybe it's too early to tell.
By researching, it looks like the baby pictures would indicate its a hen... I have attached picture of her when she was a baby.
Then looking at adult pictures, I'm totally confused - the only thing I have noticed is that the feathers of a rooster are (mostly) solid, where hens are kind of varigated with a pattern to each feather (I think they call it mottling) - there are no toes on the back of the legs and the tail isn't poofy... I have included picture of him/her as of right now ** 8 weeks old **
the only other thing, is the personality - it acts like a rooster. kind of a bully, not scare of anything, roosts all of the time when the other chickens lay on the ground, ... i think 8 weeks and the hens haven't figured out how to roost yet.
The reason I am posting, is because the city won't allow us to have roosters, so I need to know right away.
last question: when would it start crowing, or at what age?
thanks so much for all your help!
