9/11 Tragic Anniversary - Moment of Silence

Amen!
My DH and I were in the BK parking lot starting the car up. We thought it was a prank and then when we got home, Charlie Gibson on GMAhad told us about the second plane. I had to work that day and they closed the mall and I had a woman get po'd because she was being allowed to shop!
I said a few prayers this morning too...
I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop, so to speak...

This day always affects me and i cry every year. I did not know any one that was affected but still i am bothered Shanksville,pa is about an 2 hours from here, i live near pittsburgh. My husband worked in the us steele bldg, at the time the largest building in pgh and believed to be where the last plane was headed. I was home, i had just got my daughters off to school and the phone was ringing. My grandmother was crying and i thought someone died and said "do you have the tv on?" I said "yeah, and she said put on the today show now!" I did and bryant gumbel was screaming and crying "we are under attack in new york!" I thought it was a joke then i called my dh at work and told him, he said "you are crazy"! Then i heard his boss come in screaming "nick, the nation is under attack, come in my office now!" Then i saw the pentagon blown away, which broke my heart. I am a former woman marine and i worked in the pentagon for 4 years, ten years before and i felt sick to my stomach. I will never forget this day and though i do not believe in this war in iraq i believe in everyone fighting for our freedom over there. So fly your flag today!

I was driving my kids to pre-school, listening to the radio. My husband had been driving my car the night before and had switched the radio station. I was listening to some morning show, the kind where annoying guys spend two hours making inane jokes. I remember thinking how sick the jokes were, and annoyed, switched over to my regular NPR station. That's when I knew it was real. I dropped my kids off at the preschool, came home, and spent the rest of the day in front of the TV, tears rolling down my face. Remembering watching as the second plane hit the tower and watching as both towers come down has me crying today.

I, unfortunately, dreamt about it the night before and had no context to put the dream in...
A parade of guys in yellow turnouts with blackened faces...
A policeman crying on a sidewalk...
I saw both of them as part of the TV coverage in the next days after...
Not that anyone would probably have believed me anyways...noone took Jean Dixon seriously when she told JFK's secretary to tell him not to go to Dallas.

I hate when that happens.

My sister said that a girl that she works with and her mother were flying a month before and the girl was actually sitting next to one of the hijackers!

They were doing trial runs to see how long each part of the trip took, I guess.

I was at work that day. I was the D.O.N. at an assisted living facility in Florida at the time. It had started as most days, very hectic and busy. As I was "running" through the living room, the big screen TV was on. It was reporting the first plane hit. I stopped in my tracks and thought, What dumba$# was not able to see something as big as the WTC or was it someone that was trying to commit suicide. I went to get my Administrator so she could watch also. About that time, the 2nd plane hit the Pentagon was hit and the plane went down in Pa. That's when things got really crazy. The administrators son worked at the Pentagon and she could not reach on by cell phone or computer. And not knowing where initially the plane went down in Pa upset me, because all but one of my family lived there. Explaining what was happening to my residents was not easy either since most had some form of dementia. To this day and every day, I will never forget. I pray that all who lost their lives and those defending us will work with God and his guardian angels.
GOD Bless America!!! And Our Troops!!!!
