Here are my 9 day old bantams --- does anyone have any clue on breeds? I am concerned as one of them (Velvet-4th pic) has barely there minuscule feathers while the other have nice long feathers and are starting to fly. Should I be concerned? I am soooo new to the whole chicken thing. :)

I am a newbie, so nothing carved in stone here, but the second looks a little like my Australorp chicks???
My daughter pointed out that they also have the white tips on the wings, which has enabled us to differentiate between our Black Minorcas and Australopes.

She said that they were all bantams. So it shouldn't be an Australorp.

We have no idea on sex on any of them --- although we are leaning toward #5 being a rooster (I keep reading that roosters are more brave) he/she was the first to learn to fly and will perch on a stick we have in their baby coop.
#4 is the one I am most concerned about. She/he has almost no wing feathers while the other four have full feathers and are able to fly now.

We are still looking for a coop/run for them but I believe we have found a design we like that will fit our space.
they are funny little birds and we love talking to them and holding them. They are certainly pets. :)

Does anyone know of a good place to see what they will look like as adults based on what they look like as chicks?

We bought them all from TSC the same day and were told they were all the same age (4 days at the time).

I will check out the sites.

Thank you!

None of those are Cochins. All of the ones with feathered legs also have beards/muffs and that is not consistent with cochins
