9 day old chick attack please HELP

I have ttwo 9 day old chicks that was attack by a 5 month old rooster. The poor guys have dime size hole under their wing and I think their wing is broken. I need help with treatment they are shaking and sleeping alot maybe because of the trauma. This happened about 4 hours ago. They were every health until this happened. PLEASE HELP

First get the babes under a heat lamp in a quiet place. Make sure the have food and water. Make sure the wounds have stopped bleeding.

Do you have pictures of the wounds?

Once the have settled down and aren't in shock, clean the wounds with normal saline and apply antibiotic oint. You'll have to watch them carefully because they might start peaking each other if they see blood. You might have to apply BluKote if that happens.

They might need to rest a few hours tonight to get over the trauma, then I would make sure they are eating and drinking. The yolk of a boiled egg, or a scrambled egg will add extra protein which will help them heal faster.

Wow!! He did a number on them! poor wee babes.

About the wing, I know vets have splinted the wing on wild birds so dont see why you couldn't try it!

How do I fix a broken wing

Other than x-ray and having a vet doing it. Which an xray would be helpful to know if the bones are in the right position for healing the right way.
The vet will usually tape the wing to the body so it wont move.

But others on here can tell you how to tape it correctly.

Be sure to use a breathable tape. The kind you would use to splint a persons foot. Its white and you usually can get it at a grocery store.

That's just my version. Other chickeners on here may have a better solution. I will follow this post for my future use too!!

Any luck with your babies wing yet? Paper tape might be good to tape his wing up.

NO TAPE NO TAPE! Use vet wrap so it won't stick to and pull out feathers. You can pick it up at Petsmart or Petco. Vet wrap will only adhere to itself and not feathers.
