9 day old chicks.

Aww that's good. I've bought them a brill sized coop plus extra run and loads of fox alarms lol. We have flower, rosie and poppy! (My 5 year old named them :) )

Cute names :love

Being fox aware is good!! I had one wipe out all my birds and it was devastating. My own silly fault too :smack After that things changed and I got a whole new set up, added extra locks to keep the things away and out. We are in the sticks so we have lots round us. Listening to them yapping on a night fils me with dread. The other half is a shooter so he keeps them down as much as he can. As soon as you dispatch one, more move into the area. They are seriously out of control!!

We live backed on to a small field. I bought a sonar device that picks up heat then sounds a alarm. I've put the coop on a concrete base but I'm growing grass in trays so they can still dig etc. ( they will have lots of free roaming time too) I have a huge flood light and also got mens hair in stocking around the coop lol. (I read that online :)

I will. My neighbour has chickens too. He told me to buy galvanised coops so that's what I got. I will be scared to death when my babies go out lol x

I'm sure they will be fine but it's always a worry. I move mine out to the shed at about a week with the heat lamp. I do enjoy them being in the house but they soon get to big for the Guinea cage!! Once they have a reasonable covering of feathers I open the shed door (weather dependant) so they can start getting hardened off. They still like to get back in for a warm up!!
