9 month old leghorns losing feathers!!

My 9 month old leghorn is losing so many feathers. When I pick her up i can feel that she lost so many! She also for some reason has blood where the missing feathers are. She still eats and drinks as normal but i would say that her energy has decreased a little bit. Her egg production also has gone down but I'm assuming that's because of the weather lately since it's been very gloomy and not much sun. I did check her for mites and saw nothing. Please help!

Molting doesn’t cause blood so are all the spots bloody or only a few? My guess would be if its a significant amount and she isn’t really laying shes molting and someone might have picked some feathers out.

But she is only 9 months old and I don't think she is old enough to molt yet?
Also molting in January? Can they molt that late? She also sitting around a lot and seems more tired is that normal during a molt.

Some molt early. And yes, they can even molt in mid winter.

I don’t see any blood spots?

Oh okay that makes sence. The blood spots are very small and there isn't very many of them

Yes, that's molting. Feed high protein feed to help her through it.

Phew okay that puts all of my worries aside! Yes they all are eating a high protein food already. Thank you so much for your help!

Yes she definitely doesn't like getting picked up right now))
