9 pullets and 1 hen/No Chickens Allowed

I have 1 bantam Rhode Island Red hen that is laying right now in a temp coop and run. But I have 9 pullets that are 1wk. I told my neighbors on either side about the chickens and the are okay with it. But I called the city this morning and they said no chickens unless you have 100ft between you and the neighbor. But I begin construction on my REAL coop this wkend and at this point I am just going to plan to raise my chickens until they tell me otherwise!!! lol. I am located in Clovis, NM btw.

from Kansas, I wonder if they mean the coop has to be 100 feet from the neighbor? I would call the local animal shelter they are the ones that come out to check things so they should know. I would also Google your city codes I found my city codes on line.

Thanks so much. I am super new to this but I wanted chickens for yrs now I am sooo happy to have them. I looked up city codes and they list 3 that allow up to 15 chickens. Mine is not 1 of them But I will check with animal control

you really shouldn't think that way. That is only showing them that you won't abide by the rules and if you ever want to change those rules, it is going to make it even harder for them to trust you. Law says only 3. You get 5, they find out and it ruins it for everyone else.

according to that link, the city is allowed 25...geeze.lol

and the location law is confusing....it states 6.16.060 Poultry location restrictions.

No person shall keep poultry within one hundred feet of any residence or business establishment, except the residence or business establishment of the person owning or controlling the poultry. (Prior code § 4-4)
