We had a bunch of chicks one of which was a Brahma, that turned out to be a cockerel so we gave it back to the breeder and swapped it for another Brahma from the same hatch. This one is significantly smaller and while it has lost most of its down, it doesn’t really have feathers coming in as I would expect! We’ve only had her for a week and she is in a smaller run with one other chick so she isn’t picked on. Breeder thought perhaps failure to thrive but wondering anyone has encountered this before?

She’s eating and drinking fine and in the last couple days seeming more lively and curious so we’re hopeful she’ll be able to join the others soon enough! It also looks like she has some new feathers coming in in some spots, but is totally bald in other spots still with no sign of incoming feathers …so I thought I’d ask!

That is definitely interesting! Do you think it is possible it has turken in it? Because turkens soemtimes are missing feathers on their body’s also.

I don't think so. The other Brahma from the same hatch was fully feathered by like 5 weeks. It's just odd because the wings, chest and tail seem to be the only places they feathers have come in, and while it looks like there are some new feathers emerging on it's side and back, it doesn't seem like all that many still ( and still some total bald spots on the upper thigh).... but it's hard to take a proper photo lol
