Lonewolf so sorry to hear about your Phyllis! I understand the attachment part! I am already so attached to my Phyllis....will absolutely hate to have to get rid of her if she turns out to be a roo! Aoxa....you have given me hope! Your Polish is looking a lot like what ours is turning out to look like. Her hair is poofy yet spikey which is why I am having a hard time going by the rule of thumb when determining the sex by their crest. Keeping my fingers crossed that ours can stay Phyllis and not Ferbis?

lol Aoxa....steal away.....I always pick those kinds of names.....Harriet is perfect for a Polish! We have Phyllis, Stella, Hazel, Betty and LuLu right now. Naming them is half the fun! Phyllis and LuLu are our Polish.....although I am thinking LuLu may end up being Louie! We have one more Polish that my 5 yr old named Muffin.....we will end up calling her Muffy for short.....lol

We have Denny, Penny, Pearl, Ida, Lorraine, Ruby, Dott, Harriet, Honey, Olive, Janet, Mabel, Martha, Bertha, Macy, Skittles, Eedie, Fern, Willow, McDonalds, Cathy (lol), Hoover, Bonnie, Twerkie and the boys are Steve, Jagger, George, Carltin (<-- pronounced how it's spelled, not Carlton), Stanley and Gigi.

We want to name one of our silkies Phyllis - it will be one of Lorraine's babies. I think it sounds like a daughter of Lorraine lol.

I might have forgot something in there. I hope not

lol aoxa! The names you pick sound like the kind we usually go with. Names that are "real" names but one you wouldnt name your human children! I love the common names you used.....like Steve and Cathy....kinda cracks me up thinking of them on chickens! lol I would have to say my fav is Stanley though....if I could keep a roo I would so steal that....I love it! We are only going to keep up to 5 or 6 chickens but we tend to use those kinds of names for our other animals too....I think the one that people think is the most amusing when they hear the story behind it is our pittbull mastiff mix dog....his name is Huey....he was the biggest out of a litter of 9 and cried the loudest and the most often. So we couldn't resist naming him after "baby huey".

That's exactly what we do. We find the most random real persons name and use it. Cathy.. It cracks me up.. It just does lol. Who the heck names a chicken Cathy?

We had a rooster for a time called Arnold SchwartzenEGGER. Mouth full, yes?

We also had a male duck named Ruth for months. Never changed it once he decided to be a man - I am convinced he decided

That's very cute - Huey - I have a new puppy named Clementine. It took us so long to agree on a name.

My son wants ever so badly to name one of our roosters...Stuart....I refuse to name a chicken STU..it just seems wrong....
