This 9 week old has me puzzled, pullet or roo? It's an EE (EE roo x EE hen) I will first post a photo of him/her ... This is the 9 week old

Now this is my 18 mo old hen who looks JUST like him/her:
(next photo of hen in comments)....

It looks like a cockerel. That's a pretty big red comb for 9 weeks old. Hens don't have that much color in the comb until they are near laying age. My 12 week old EE pullets still have mostly flat yellowish colored combs.

Ok, that's what was said when he was 7 weeks but I guess I expected him to look more like my other EE cockerels did at the same age :) He seems to be without the big tail feathers Id expect to start showing up...
Thank you!

Given the size and redness of its comb at 9 weeks, it's definitely a cockerel. Pullets' combs do not turn red like that until shortly before they begin laying (like that of your 18 month old hen).

It might still be a little while before he has big tail feathers. My EE cockerels have a huge variety in the size of their tail feathers right now. They range in age from 2-3 months old. I have some with big beautiful tail feathers and some with tail feathers so short that they are still mostly hidden by their wings.

Ok, was seeing if there was any hope he was a she...lol. I'm undecided whether we are keeping him. Thanks all!
