9 weeks old today

Today was wonderful ..no rain and 75 I had checked my cover LOT and finding it in perfect shape decided to open the door for my oldest chicks . ONLY 5 can outside the rest are scared.They have never been on the ground.I left the door open for a few hours Then made sure everybody was locked up for the day . Should I have run them out ?I think when they are ready they will go out .

I wouldn't initially. If they don't eventually explore more you can encourage them. It takes a while for the to get brave.

Thanks it took my last flock almost a week before they all were outside

Wow...9 weeks without any stimulating environment. Definitely give them time to figure out how to be a Chicken. Mine are in the Coop and out doors at 5 days weather permitting with Momma..

They have a huge barn with several rooms they roam in with plenty of place to poke around in . .They are hatchery Chicks and the weather has been nasty and cold here . I have swings hung from the ceiling for them also .yesterday we had rain and hail,so ready for these little Appalachian Winters to be over and we still have 2 more

Rain,rain and more rain temps in the 40's this Morning.going to get a few cabbage heads and tie them on rope from the rafters to get the girls a game started. This was one of my other chicks favorite things . I have a friend that is a produce manager.She tells me when She has baggie Salad and other stuff She is going to markdowns .The store won't give it away so She marks it to a quarter a bag. Sometimes the salads are still have a sale date a week away. And yes I eat some of it myself.I also buy racks of whole wheat bread every now and then 8/$2.00 Some of My Neighbors say They wish They we're My Chickens. Everyone enjoy the day when its gone there is no getting it back

Yesterday I opened the outer door and had 5 chicks come outside . Today 23 can out .We have 2 more days of pretty weather before We start another Appalachian Winter (rain) for 3-4 days . But pleased to say the Chicks enjoyed it .

This morning as soon as I opened the outdoor Everybody ran outside trying to fly and having a wonderful time.Thrilled to see them out.

Very Happy to report today as soon as I opened the outside door Everyone was more than
Ready to go out!! They were all over the lot.flying running and trying to figure who is going to be the top boss . Haven't broke the news to Them but that little RIR that thinks He's the boss has another thing to learn...
