$950 Chicken Coop. What do you think?

Real nice, but real expensive.

I suppose it's worth whatever you are willing to pay.

That's like "The Ritz" hotel. But we're cheapscates and would build it ourselves. But I think it's a good price for what they're asking. There's a guy in central Wisconsin who builds them,a little different, but he asks $800. I think the guy here maybe a little smaller.

True, but not much less. And then you still have a bit of work cut out for you in making the shed into a functional chicken coop.

I do think it's just too expensive though. At $400, the yuppies will snap 'em up quick on craigslist. That thing is just waaay too overthought, overdesigned, and overbuilt...thus the silly price tag.

kinda pricey?

I guarantee that if you price out the materials and subtract them from the cost of the coop you will have a cost to build that is much less than you'd be willing to work for. A lot of time went into the construction of that coop.

This is our comparative version. It comes with 3 nesting boxes, perches and auto-feeder. It looks a bit bigger but is no where near as intricate. We sell ours for $800 and are raising our prices on it. After material cost and the hours of labor, it just isn't worth it for us right now.

Saw it on Craigslist yesterday. You can tell alot of work was put into it, but I can't imagine spending $950 for that size coop. It's cute, but I'd rather buy a shed at Lowes of HD for $1000 and turn it into a coop. Don't think the ad was on for very long. Wonder if it sold...
