This morning at 10:00 I set 97 eggs in my two hova genesis 1588's. This will be the thread leading to the hatch. They're due on Saturday, April 30th. So far, humidity and temp on the bators are good. I didn't candle for air cells when they arrived, as I don't like to throw out eggs until the first candling, out of fear. LOL. I did break four for dropping one, knocking an extension cord onto two and smashing them, and pressing to hard with my pencil when writing on one. I didn't have any broken, and cleaned off a few with hot water for a lot of poop. Plan to candle on day 5, to and 15, then day 18 before lockdown. I don't have the auto egg turners so will be hand turning. I am hoping for 70 of these to hatch.

I'm setting:

-10 BR
-23 BBS Orp
-13 EE (with Lav rooster in pen)
-12 Rhodel/Delaware
-14 Assorted Ameraucana (with black rooster in pen)
-13 BO
-11 Assorted Silkie/Easter Egging Silkies

I have two brooders set up so far. One will be 4 x 6 and I need to build it. I also need to order a bunch of new feeders and waterers, cause I haven't had so many in my brooders yet. Hopefully they'll be full!

Anyone else due April 30th may join in.

I'm setting 8 black-tailed white japanese bantam eggs today, so I can hatch along with you! (the other bator is already stuffed)

The 30th is a Saturday, though. But it gives more time for bator-watching, since there will be no work.

Thanks! It was getting so hard to turn the eggs on the wire floor, I washed off a bunch of styrofoam egg cartons, cut holes in the bottom and put the eggs tilted to one side in those. Should be a lot easier. The egg cartons were still drying off from when they were washed, so were still wet, so it raised the humidity a bunch. Should calm down soon, I guess.

ETA: Good luck with your hatches everyone! Yes, youngbiddy, feel free.

Thanks Cyn. I'm planning on using the shelf liner at lockdown.
