97 degrees for 12 days - are they done for??

Well I have been having some tempature problems with this hatch. I posted some pics of the eggs candled at 9 days and some people said that my embryos are small. I finally was able to get some accurate temp reading that matched up between 3 medical grade themometers, 2 digitals and one infered, and the were all reading in the low 97 degrees. I guess it has been has been at that temp for the last 12-13 days.
I've upped the temp and now have it in the mid 99-100 degrees.
I candeled a couple of them and it still has a dark mass in the upper half to 2/3 with a small air pocket on the top. Are these eggs done for and doomed to be underdeveloped and hatch late? Should I keep going till 24-25 days and see what happens? or scrap them and start over?

I'd wait and see what happens. But then that's just me.....I've been know to leave a perfectly clear egg in for a few more days...just in case.

I would try and let them go, Might still get a few from them. Keep the temp at 100 and it should be fine. I know for short term, if I want the eggs to run fast, I up the temp to 101.5 in a forced air bator which is about 2 deg higher than it should be.

I read that it's better to have it too low that too high, and if it's too low, then they just go dormant and start up again when they get heated up again. So, they might be ok. The major problem you are going to have, is that they will take more than 21 days to hatch now, but you have no way of knowing how many more days or when day 18 is.

I didn't know you can grow them to run faster. Guess I still have a lot to learn till I can go to the chicken olympics

Just trying to be lighthearted about this.....being responsible for possibly killing 30 little ones

I know what you are talking about.

I guess I will just let them be for the next 10 day of so. If they are delayed, them I don't want to stop turning them till day 20-21?? Any signs I should look for? or just pick a day and go for it?
Any way I can tell if they are about to explode?? I broke open a rotten one once and about lost it

definately want to avoid that at all costs.

Well, you don't want to run them fast for a long period of time as that would introduce possible problems in hatch. I say go ahead and stop turning on day 18 and let them go and plan to hatch as usual, low or high temps can slow or speed things, but for example, none of the eggs I speed or slow ever get to hatch. I would just keep it a bit toastier, not too toasty, and keep on going as if they were going to be normal. Candle on day 18 though and any clears at that point need to go.
