I thought it was a boy at first because it was larger than the other mixed chicks. But I realized it only looks larger because of its fluffy feathers. The others have straight feathers held tight against their skin. Not much of a comb or waddles. When do Silkies develop combs and waddles? I am leaning towards a girl?

@Egg Snatcher she looks to be a full silkie? I am not sure. The breeder I got the eggs from has a pen of mixed bantams. She tells me the father is a Silkie Roo. And the hens he runs with in that pen is a mixed batch of silkies, pekins, polish and frizzles. She threw in 2 Polish eggs from her pure Polish pen just to fill up the order. As a result it’s a guessing game as to what the heritage of the chicks are. I am just going on the basis that out of the chicks hatched it the only one with the fluffy plumage, black skin and 5 toes. So I am guessing it’s mother is a silkie. I am hoping it turns out to be a pullet. It has a lovely temperament. Very docile, calm and quiet. I think because of this, it’s the lowest in the pecking order. Always the last to bolt out of the coop and the last to get to the feed.

Ok thanks, She won't be fully silkie then. She could be part silkie or a silkie cross
