Hi, we have 6 Easter egger chicks that hatched 5/17 and about a week ago I noticed a strange bare, soft lump under the beak of one. She is a bit smaller than the others and holds her head a bit different (turtlenecked some) so her feathers hide it but I noticed she was struggling to eat. When I looked closer I realized her lower beak is much shorter so it doesn’t meet the top (not scissored just short). She acts totally fine otherwise and seems to be compensating for it with eating. I have no idea how long it’s been this way but I would like to rule out disease or illness if possible. Has anyone seen anything like this?

Was this ever diagnosed? Have a chick with parrot beak and lump under beak vvat 4 weeks. Did it live a good life?

Unfortunately we lost her shortly after I made this post. She was eating and drinking, just not thriving. She passed away in the coop overnight. 😞

I have seen a handful of chicks like this pop up on the forum now.
Looks like Easter eggers are prone to beak issues. I'm sorry your chick passed away 😔
I'm curious where you got your chick from?
