A 30 year ambition realized!

Got 12 quails today

3 boys and 9 girls. Put them in the big cage hubby built for the cockatiel - 5ft x 4ft x 8ft - on a sand bottom and they only stopped bathing in the sand when it got too dark for them to see.

Awwww, they are so cute!

And have already laid 2 eggs, such good birds

pickled eggs are nice little before dinner snack

3 or 4 eggs = 1 lg egg. I just scramble them up and put on toast w/ a schmere of cheese. YUM!

I bake 3 quail eggs/muffin tin and then use these to make breakfast sandwiches.

Had every intention of eating the first weeks eggs and then setting the next weeks eggs but the sight of today's 5 eggs sitting on the table tipped me over the edge. They are now sitting in the drawer waiting for the next few days worth to join them in breaking in a virgin incubator.

I have no self control

At least I have 8 eggs in the fridge to taste test
