I found a beetle trying to get into my peacock pen. It was 2 1/2 inches long and looked like a rhinosaurus!!!!!! I put him in a jar and freaked the family out with him!!!!!!!!!
Hi everyone!
So it turns out this "mystery bug" is an Earwig. I showed my sister what they look like and she said that's what it is.
And this is what REALLY happened:
The chicks and hen were foraging in the grass, when Juno(the baby chick) tried to eat the bug(Earwig). But when she picked it up, it turned around and latched onto the area under her beak. My sister saw Juno scratching at her face and peeping loudly in alarm, and it looked like the Earwig had tried to attack the chick. She picked Juno up and the Earwig fell off, leaving a small bead of blood where it had bitten her.
So, the Earwig hadn't actually attacked the chick; it had bitten her to defend itself when she was trying to eat it.
