I know I'm in really good company here on BYC.
We're all caring for and providing for these funny, capricious girls and boys of ours, and continually learning from each other. Whenever I think I need to post a question, it's always just been answered.
I'm a Grannie, new to raising chickens. Sierra, my fun-loving pound-mutt is trying to control herself in spite of her instincts, and to be a good guard and not pounce on them when they scatter. Our flock now is 2 Delaware, 2 GLW, 1 SLW, 1 Sicilian Buttercup (a real cutie), 1 Jersey Giant black, 1 BR, 1 Ameraucana, 1 RIR and 2 red sexlink. Their accommodations leave a lot to be desired, but they're bravely enduring and I try to make whatever improvements I can.
Today, 08-11-09 we found our first egg -- oh joy of joys!
If anyone else is here in the Verde Valley I'll be happy to give you my e-mail address so we can compare notes.
Best regards to you all.
Enjoy each day. Anne (Grannie Annie)
