Hello!

My wife and I had a chicken coop when we were first married but as a result of city code, we got rid of it. Now the code is changing and we are looking forward to starting our chicken coop adventure!

There is a LOT to learn and I thank you all in advance for the information I will learn here and the help I hope to find.

We have two large coops that I have purchased and combined for ample space and our chicks will ship on the 8th from www.mypetchicken.com

As a result of our lot size, we could have 8 chickens but we are starting with 7. Here is what will be on the way...

1 Cream Legbar
2 Easter Eggers
1 Barred Plymouth Rock
1 Australorp
1 Speckled Sussex
1 Road Island Red

The chicks will be in a brooder in the house and will be transitioned to the coop once their feathers come in. They will have ample room to wander outside of the coop and I plan to let them explore a few times a week.

I have two children that are VERY excited and I'm trying to absorb as much info as I can.

A little about me, I'm a husband, father, music teacher, and giant Star Wars fan! ;)

The big question that Perhaps some can help me with are will these breeds work well together? I picked them for color, and egg laying but temperament was not really posted. I was hoping for an Olive Egger but they were sold out. I have a friend where I buy our farm eggs now that is willing to adopt any of my chickens if needs be.

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Congrats on your future flock! You've chosen some great breeds! Once they grow up, you'll be getting tons of eggs. Feel free to ask any questions you may have! Sounds like your kids are egg-cited!
