A brahma?

A while back I posted about the difficulty in finding a hen to keep my single delaware girl company. Several people have offered me roosters but I live in an urban area. Someone else told me to put a baby chick under my hen when she is sleeping and then she will accept as her own in the morning...I question that!
I put an ad on Craigslist and get a few hits. The most promising comes from someone (near me in the city!) who raises brahmas.
I don't know much about anything other than standard breeds. Would a brahma be too big/exotic looking to introduce to my hen?
Tried to hold out for more offers but as I posted before...nobody seems to want to part with adult hens. Don't want my girl to be too lonely so I am seriously considering a brahma hen. Any brahma owners out there mix them with other breeds?

I have 2 light brahma's with my mixed flock. They are quite large, good foragers, certainly hold their own in the flock but aren't aggressive despite being my largest hens. They are very handsome birds. Too large to be terribly economic as layers (but if you only have 2 or 3 hens that's not such a big issue). Mine lay regularly, light brown/cream eggs, not very big, considering the size of the hens. I don't think you will know for certain if they'll get along until you try it, but I don't believe it will be a problem.

Mine are the quietest kind I own, not aggressive to other breeds, great foragers, really gentle natured chicks. They are kinda big though...

Be carefull, getting your first Brahma is a slippery slope. Their temperment will make you want to get more. that and they up and make the rest of your birds look so plain. No offense to you non Brahma chicken folks, you Brahma people know what I'm talking about.

I just got 5 Buff Brahmas from Mt. Healthy hatchery 2 weeks ago. Sounds like they're similar in tempermant to Cochins? I have 5 cochins I fixing to move outta the main flock because my rooster is being picked on. He won't even come out of the coop! I put him in our front yard with the polish youngins' so he can get freah air and sunshine!
