Awww, I don't make my chickens live in a bubble either, but to overcrowd and then let the weaker ones die is just horrible! I'm proud of you That is a great story. I can't wait to hear updates on them!

Raising hand here to say "yep, I would have done the same thing and thought about the ramifications later." Been there done that, but it was with a very pregnant cat that was going to be put down at the vet where I worked in high school. Mom was not amused but she got over it

I hope they make it and and turn into great layer hens. Sounds like you are doing the all you can for them.
