A chicken in a petstore...who'da thunk it?

a figure eight harness of the kind used for reptiles and small mammals might work. One loop arounf the neck and the other in front of the legs, but behind the wings. Never tried it, might take some tweaking, but it should work.
There are also harnesses that have a mesh part on the front that are sometimes used on parrots.
If you had something with a piece of mesh or fabric across the front and 2 loops to go around the wings, connecting in the back, that would work too.
*hmmm, looking up US patent office phone number......*

I bought cat harnesses for Slifer and Obelisk.
Just like this one:

The front loop goes around their neck and the loose end goes under the wings and around the belly and clips on their back. It's adjustable so you could just buy one and use it on all your different birds. I knew that Slifer and Obelisk wouldn't go anywhere, but I'm not sure about Penny. Which is why I haven't taken her yet. That and I don't know whether Slifer would be upset if I used HER leash on her "replacement"...
This is Slifer wearing her leash and her muzzle:

I haven't taken mine to the pet store, but we do go for walks downtown and they sit on my arm. They are little yet. People drinking in the pub get a kick out of them. Now that they look like chickens, people ask me why I have a chicken with me. I tell them I want a friendly rooster. It's usually the little roo that I take. He's the best behaved on these adventures and loves attention.

GLad to know that others take their chickens on outings.

I tried walking Obelisk on her leash but she went around the same darned tree like 30 times...so I dropped the leash and let her keep going...

The only reason that I use a leash is because pets in a pet shop are supposed to be leashed or in a carrier.

we could do a costume contest here....lol
i think i saw bird costumes at a pet store recently,,
that would be fun, whats the next holiday,,,easter,....alot of chickens dressed up like rabbits,,,
