Yesterday I cleaned out my laundry room. Among the things that got moved were the 2 terra cotta planters I'd bought last summer in an unsuccessful attempt to grow peppers in the Pacific Northwest. Here's Tribble, my banty cochin, teaching the then-chicks that peppers are TASTY!

Well, I went outside this afternoon and found the pots had been invaded by Gwen:

    "What??"

Dumpling (BR) and nugget (RIR) check out the action:

    Nugget's interested:

    A little closer...

    And in she goes:

    "Told you we'd both fit!"

    "Beat it... three's a crowd!"

"Nothing like a spa day with a good girlfriend."

    "Now this is the life!"

I got her at a feedstore and was told she's an RIR. She lays big, dark brown eggs. She's pretty skittish but has gotten friendlier since she started laying.

Gwen is our head chicken, and the friendliest of all our girls. She's my shadow and in many of my pics as a result.
