What is the age and when is a chicken considered an adult?

What age is a chicken in its egg-laying prime?

If buying full grown hens, what is the cut off age, or age that a hen would be too old to buy for egg laying?

What is the life span of an average chicken?

What is the age of a "senior" chicken?

Please leave you feedback. I am new at the chicken experience. I love my new hens and I love this sight!

I have a 6 year old EE that lays 4-5 eggs a week.

Right. Not necessarily a baby, though.

Yes, because pullets start to lay around 5 -6 months old, so that means they're sexually mature at that point.

Female chicken under 1 year is a pullet, over a year is a hen.

Male chicken under 1 year is a cockerel, over a year is a rooster.

They're no longer babies once they reach sexual maturity, somewhere around 4 - 5 months for a cockerel, and 5 - 6 months or so for a pullet.
